Norman Sage, Uncle Norman to my siblings and me, was a warm person and always had a smile, a happy character. My thoughts of him were that he seemed to be quiet, gentle, and had a shy personality, he always looked as if he was thinking and planning his next move. Uncle Norman, born in Barbados, never lost his accent. It was always there. He was a bus conductor and then later went on to be a security guard. He was father to two of my lovely cousin’s, his daughters Hazel and Tracey, 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren of which he was dedicated to and would support them any way he could. He liked to travel and go on holidays, liked to meet up with friends for a drink and socialise. When I had my father living with me, Uncle Norman made a point of making sure that he came and spent time with my father who suffered with Dementia. He would sit and talk with him, have a drink with him, and that always put a smile on my dad’s face. I could see the joy that his visits brought to my father long after he had left the house. As we grow older and lose loved ones, those of us left behind are the reminders of that loved one that has now passed. Uncle Norman you will be missed.
